Eid
I remember when it was Eid. Eid is a special celebration that Muslims celebrate. Eid begins at sunset on the night of the first sighting of the crescent moon .Eid marks the end of a month of fasting from dawn to sunset. If you do not know what is fasting is I will explain. So fasting is something Muslims do, they only eat two times a day they eat once in the morning around 4:00am and then in the evening around 8:00pm.We fast because it improves our spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship .So the first thing we did on Eid morning was get ready and go to the mosque. A mosque is a place where Muslims pray it is required for a Muslim to pray five times a day. After we reached the mosque we rolled out our prayer mats and faced the kabah and did our special Eid prayers and made a dua. A dua is kind of like a wish my mother once told me that dua comes true which I find very interesting. So after that we went to donate money to the poor which Muslims call zakat. Zakat is also considered a way to purify one's income and wealth from sometimes worldly, impure ways of acquisition. After that we decided to give chocolates to all our neighbours and say Eid Mubarak. Eid Mubarak is like saying happy Eid but in a different way. In a Arabic term it Eid Mubarak means” blessed festival”. We then invite all of our family and friends to come over to our house and every year we learn something new like last year I learned that Eid was originated by the Islamic prophet Muhammad. According to certain traditions, these festivals were initiated in Medina after the migration of Muhammad from Mecca. Anas, Eid is special to me because I feel like because it is a religious thing and that’s not all celebrating makes me happy and it also makes me feel good about myself also it is very important because it is a part of my life and when I mean that I mean Eid is always going to be in me!
