About My Community

The Jewish community is a happy place with lots of history and tradition. My collage is about that history and tradition. The collage sits on my father's prayer shawl, which is called a Talit. The Talmud represents our laws which were taught to us by Moses . I chose to include a Shofar which we blow on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. I also included a Hanukiah and Hanukkah candles, which we celebrate with family in the winter. The Tzedakah box, which is filled with coins, is very important to our community because collecting for charity is one of our most important beliefs. The wine cup in the middle of the collage is used each Friday night for Shabbat, when we try to rest.

About My Community

I did my community collage on Taiwan because I always feel welcome there and most of my family live there. I chose the pictures that I chose for my collage because I thought they were fitting for Taiwan and that the pictures represented Taiwan. I think Taiwan is a wonderful place full of tasty food and fun places to go to but it is also a very humid place. This community makes me feel very happy especially when I am with my family it is a very welcoming community. I first found out about this wonderful community when I was 3 years old when I first remember visiting. I have such wonderful memories there and I am very excited to go back.
