Welcome!

Welcome to Canadian Civics 101!

This blog started as a way for me to continue teaching Canadian Civics to grade 4-8 students during the Covid-19 pandemic. While school is back in-person, I continue to update this website for current and past students as well as any other curious minds looking to know more about Canada!

Here you will find discussions on Canadian history, culture, identity and responsibilities, as well as those on our roles in the international sphere. Not every piece of Canada is pretty, but it is important to continue showing those parts and talking about them, lest we repeat our past. I have attempted to maintain the lowest level of bias possible in my lessons, however I would be remiss if I claimed I was without any.

Let's get started! Click on the Visual Index of topics or the list of topics on the sidebar to begin your journey, and if you ever have any questions feel free to contact me using the email address on the sidebar.

  1. What a wonderful initiative—bringing Canadian civics to young learners (and curious minds!) is so important for fostering informed, engaged citizens. In my work providing web design services in Dubai, I see a similar goal: creating educational digital spaces that are clear, trustworthy, and inviting—so everyone feels welcome and empowered to explore.
