Aspects
Aspect #1
One main aspect of our community (gaming) would be the social aspect. You can have a social life on a video game and it could be better than in real life. I personally think this is true because I have made friends with people that live in minnesota, chicago, border of canada, I’ve even met people that lie near etobicoke and I went to his birthday and we all met up. Sometimes it can be a bad relationship and can end with a cyber attack on your property (which is illegal).
Aspect #2
Another aspect would be health. Yes there can be many things that can happen from sitting in a chair and playing on your console/PC. But for the most part it is not often that a professional gamer gets carpel tunnel syndrome which is something to do with your wrist/hand/palm when you have your hand in the position with your mouse (A peripheral with your computer).
Aspect #3
One of the most important aspects of the gaming community is being nice and polite. There may be bad words being said and used but most of the time we are nice to each other. If we aren’t nice it gives the community a bad word and does not help people want to be in the community. We all need to be nicer to each other, not just in the gaming community but in the whole world. Everybody is too rude and does not consider other people's feelings.
Factual (Dark side)
There is not many bad things about the gaming community, in fact it is hard to think about the bad things. Don’t get me wrong there is some but not a lot, there is a couple I will talk about. Carpel tunnel is one, to go more into depth with carpel tunnel, it is a syndrome that is caused by your mouse from your computer. Often not only gamers get this syndrome because we take breaks often in the day. Lots of people with office jobs that use a computer often get it. Another bad thing with health would be Scoliosis, Scoliosis is a medical condition that basically is caused by slumping over in your chair for too long. It is a medical condition in which your spine makes an S type of curve. Sometimes there is the odd hacker that may join your game and play with you and threaten to DOS you or DDOS you which is basically booting your internet or “WiFi” offline so you can not play any games or pretty much do anything with your devices because usually they require some type of connection to a “WiFi network”.
Misconceptions
Well gamers don’t really have a life and spend most of their time on video games wasting their time and rage a lot. ^^ this is a very common misconception with the gaming community and is not often true. Personally I do not spend most of my time on my computer playing games. I am required to be on my computer for school and after that I work on things around the house and help with my grandfather's tasks from around 3:30 to at least 7:00. This exists because of some gamers who don’t really want to have a life and just sit around all day and not be sociable with people in real life.
Gamers spend all of their money on games and things on games and not in real life and don’t even have a job. ^^ this is again a common misconception because of those people who choose to do that with their money. Personally I think that you shouldn’t worry about what other people do with their money unless it may be life threatening. I have a couple of ideas as why it is place, the main reason would probably streamers, they spend a lot of their money on games and gaming equipment but they make their money back most of the time with donations. A streamer that gets a lot of views and donations make more then you might think they do. PewDiePie is worth more than the average owner of a company near the beginning. They also don’t rage much
